After graduating in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, Gillian trained as a secondary school teacher. 

She went on to lead an English department at a middle school in Bedfordshire, before moving to France with her husband, Ray, in 2009. 

Gillian is now a freelance writer and columnist for a variety of national newspapers and magazines, including The Guardian, The Sun, Woman’s Weekly and Fit & Well magazine.  She is mother to five young children.
