After graduating from Anglia Ruskin university, Cambridge in 2000 with a 2:1 in English, Gillian trained as a secondary school teacher. She went on to lead an English department at a middle school in Bedfordshire, before moving to France with her husband, Ray, in 2009. 

Gillian is now a freelance writer and columnist for a variety of national newspapers and magazines, including Guardian, The Sun, Woman’s Weekly and Fit & Well magazine.  She is mother to five young children.
