Professor Cathy Jackson graduated from Manchester Medical School having gained a first class honours degree in physiology along the way. After training in medicine she became a GP and academic with a research interest in inflammatory airways disease and medical education portfolio.
 
She is now the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences and Head of the School of Medicine at UCLan. In addition to research publications Cathy has authored a number of commentary pieces for a variety of both medical and veterinary journals and contributed chapters to a number of books in addition to authoring a text book on clinical communication skills.
